La Fabrique du temps perdu: Narrative experience

Creating playful, narrative adventures is at the heart of my profession and my missions. The Eat The Cake Studio team called on my services to design the puzzles and some of the assets for their project: La Fabrique du temps perdu.

This immersive treasure hunt has been open at the Centre Commercial Pau Lescar since 19/10/2024!

The concept

The studio’s aim is to offer a unique narrative experience. Leaving the premises, as in a simple escape game, is not an end in itself. Players must be committed to immersing themselves in the story and understanding its history and purpose within the allotted time.

A time challenge

When the Eat The Cake Studio team called on me, the timing for creation was extremely limited. Indeed, the experiment had to start only a few weeks later. What’s more, the project was based on a continuous input system (every 15 minutes), which meant creating puzzles that could be solved within an adequate timeframe, but also without the need for a reset or the intervention of any game master.

While adapting the puzzles to the already written storyline, we had to be as inventive as efficient, bearing in mind that the experience was aimed at a family audience.

It was also necessary to rewrite some of the text and participate in the drafting of the documents needed to tell the story and solve the puzzles set up along the way.

A timeless story

Amelia Clockwell is a genius inventor. For her, designing a time machine is as much a challenge as it is a way of understanding where the world is heading. She realizes that people need to change, that the notion of spending time together is far more important than our need to produce and consume. Unfortunately, her direct competitor and former friend will bring Amélia a terrible reality…

Will you be able to find her and understand her message?
